Q: What made you decide to get a Doberman, and who did you get first?
A: I’ve wanted a Doberman since I was a little kid. I don’t remember the exact moment I made this decision, but I’ve always been in awe of their perfect combination of beauty, brawn and intelligence. I got Ramsey several months before Pablo, you actually wrote about it on the ‘Ramsey and Pablo’ page if you care to know more.
Q: Would you ever go on the road with Ramsey and Pablo? I think a lot of people would like to meet them.
A: It would be a lot of fun, but honestly there aren’t enough fans to warrant a world tour quite yet. The costs involved with traveling and the stress it would put on Ramsey and Pablo wouldn’t be worth it. But I’m always willing to meet people locally if they’re in the area!
Q: What do you use to bathe Ramsey? She’s so shiny!
A: Are you ready for this? I’ve NEVER given her a bath. I’ve rinsed her off with the hose before, but Ramsey is such a girl that she’s never been dirty and she’s never smelled. The dirtiest she gets is some mud on her paws and maybe a few spots of mud where it splashed up on her stomach or face. That’s it! Dobermans have such sensitive skin and I was given the advice long ago to not bathe her unless I had to. Even the gentlest of shampoos can irritate the skin and we’ve all seen what dogs can do to their skin if it’s chronically itchy or irritated. So yes, she’s been rinsed off, but never an official bath. No one can believe it, but if you ask anyone that has ever met her, they will tell you she smells as if she just had a bath and her coat is smooth, soft and never oily!
Q: Do Ramsey and Pablo allow you to sleep in your own bed? I bet you have to contort yourself, weaving your body around them.
A: It’s a fair question! But actually all three of us sleep in the same bed every night. Ramsey sleeps under the covers, curled up behind my legs and Pablo starts out laying tight against my stomach. But he tends to eventually migrate across the bed throughout the course of the night. But by morning, he’s laying next to me or on my chest attempting to wake me up.
Q: How old is Ramsey?
A: Ramsey is turns seven on March 27th. She was born in 2003.
Q: How old is Pablo?
A: Pablo is six. He was born on October 15th, 2003.
Q: Why type of Chihuahua is Pablo?
A: Pablo is an Applehead Short-hair Chihuahua
Q: How much does Ramsey weigh?
A: Ramsey jumps around between 75-80 lbs. Many people seem to think she’s a monster, but I’m guessing she looks larger than she is because she’s constantly next to little old Pablo
Q: How much does Pablo weigh? He is so chubby.
A: Pablo is about 6.5 lbs. He isn’t nearly as chubby as some people think he is. He has a lot of excess skin and it tends to roll up and look like fat. I can literally grab a handful of his skin and not feel any fat. But could he stand to lose a little weight? Of course, but I honestly don’t think he’s overweight to an unhealthy extent.
Q: Does Ramsey have any professional training? She’s so well behaved!
A: Not at all. I worked with her a lot when she was a puppy. I firmly believe that it’s very important to teach right from wrong at an early age. If you do, it’s smooth sailing from there! I also don’t think that there is only one way to train a dog. You can read all the books you want, but in then end, I think it comes down to common sense. All dogs respond differently to methods of training. I’m constantly being told that she is the most obedient and gentle dog and I didn’t spend a penny on training. For some people, professional training works great. I just never felt it was necessary with Ramsey. Pablo is another story! Haha.

10 thumbs up for your well trained dogs. I could never train mine. They’re just too spoiled…and it’s all my fault.

Do Ramsey and Pablo allow you to sleep in your own bed? I bet you have to contort yourself weaving your body around their stretched out comfort… Such was with my boxer.

Did Ramsey ever go through a stage where she played too rough with Pablo or was she always gentle with Pablo. We have a 5 month old doberman female and she loves to play with our other dog a 14 year old chow chow but plays so rough she’ll make the chow cry and we’ve tried EVERYTHING and nothing seems to work to get her to stop and behave. Are dobermans normally difficult to train because she seems SO STUBBORN!! =) Please help if you can with any info. Thanks.

Heya,
with 75-80 she is really light. When I served in German Military I had a drug snifer Doberman. He was great in his job and he was also massive. He had roughly about 100-105 pounds (always between 43-45kg).
I love your dogs and I would like to know from which bloodline Ramsey is, because I think about getting a new Doberman. And she i such a beauty and seem to be very intelligent and smart.
Hugs for both of your dogs.

Where did you get that adorable little Pablo? I’ve had two Chihuahuas in the past that were rescues. I’m not surprised that little Pablo holds his own as Chi’s are famous for their tenacity and think they are just as big as any other dog. I love your videos with Ramsey and Pablo!

There are some well-run dobie rescues for those interested in a Doberman. You do not HAVE to go to a breeder. All three of mine are from the same rescue: Il Doberman Rescue. Lots of GREAT dogs. Check them out on the web.

What kind of dog food do you feed them? I’m sure that has alot to do with their beautiful shiny coats.

I love your wonderful videos; thank you so much for sharing Ramsey and Pablo with the world! I had the pleasure of owning a wonderful female Doberman in my childhhood. My father rescued Topaz from abusive owners and she was the most beautiful, loyal, protective, gentle and patient family pet I’ve ever had. My mom’s male Yorkie, Sammy was less playful with her than Pablo is with Ramsey, but they were just as devoted to eachother.

I am surprised positively like one could educate these two different dogs so well. Tell to us your secret.
