Foreword

Upon first glance, they are just two typical dogs.  Upon closer inspection, they are anything but. Much like Abbot and Costello, Batman and Robin, Superman and Lois Lane, and Tom and Jerry, welcome to the world of Ramsey and Pablo, a canine duo that are every bit super hero as they are comedic team.

With fans that reach the hundreds of thousands, these two dogs have worked their way into the hearts of many.  I first learned of the dynamic duo when I brought my chihuahua to the vet as a puppy; her first visit.  “Doctor”, I said, “ChaCha [my dog] is so little, and so young, but yet, she does a strange growl at my older, larger dog that we already have, is this normal?”  The vet looked at me and laughed, “That’s a Chihuahua for you;  little dogs with big personalities.  Some are more charismatic than others.  I have one, but a mild one.  You have one that apparently is like the one on YouTube… give me your email, I’ll send you a link.”

I left the vet office that day puzzled.  I was driving and holding on my lap, a four pound ball of adorable terror and my vet was laughing about it.

When I got home, I fired up the lap top and my vet had sent me the link… and it was that fateful day, a couple of years ago, that I first saw Ramsey and Pablo.

I started scanning the videos this “Chad” had posted.  Hmmm.  He seemed kind enough.  He sounded sane.  But as the months went on, I kept feeling a magnetic pull to YouTube and to the horrid little Pablo and the sweet Ramsey who took abuse much as my larger dog, Lucky did… with a grain of salt.   The larger dogs (mine) and Ramsey, seemed to humor the little bulge-eyed, cow-patterned dogs. Pablo, like my dog, doesn’t look much bigger or spookier than a long-legged rat, yet, has the bravery of a lion and the stare of a crazed inmate.  Yet you just know that deep down, this is a sweet dog.

And then it happened.  As many of my interviews begin, it starts with me finding the subject so interesting I must delve deeper.  Who was this “Chad” and how did all of this come about?

After a few conversations, he decided to come on my radio show.   He had already done media and was comfortable with it all; and surprisingly, he was normal.  I was expecting some crazed man who was training his dogs in a dark basement for hours, but no, apparently he just allows the dogs to play, he respects them, they respect him, and their personalities shine.  Part of the lure of the videos is the underdog (no pun intended) of Ramsey, the ornery Pablo and the calm voice of reason behind the camera, rarely seen, lulling us into a feeling of peace while the visuals just pop off the screen.

As I mentioned, the dogs are part comedic team;  they make you laugh and create a “wow” moment at each turn.  And also, the dogs are part super hero, because no matter how bad your day, or how the world around us is in strife with despair, illness, sadness or crisis, you can always count on Ramsey and Pablo to save the day.  Welcome to the online home of Pablo and Ramsey and their esteemed owner, Chad Dressen.

Beautifully written:) I have a little cow-patterned chihuahua also. However mine is lacking the bravery of a lion and is quite shy and timid.

One reason I love wathcing Ramsey and Pablo is that my dobermans (through the years and today) are a lot like Ramsey. Very tolerant, esp toward anything they consider a “puppy” or think may need their attention/protection. It is always so sweet to witness.
